Preserve, Protect, Plan & Prosper

Preserve and Protect

  • Preserve our rich agricultural assets while allowing for diversification and purposeful development on and around our farmlands.
  • Preserve our rural lifestyle through stronger, common-sense approaches to aging in place and succession or legacy strategies.
  • Protect our environmentally sensitive areas including lakes, rivers, and watersheds through consultation and collaboration with partners committed to these lands and waters.
  • Protect our quality of life and well-being with a commitment to increased resources for rural crime reduction and public safety programming.
  • Preserve and protect our public recreational spaces through infrastructure maintenance and improvements.

Plan

  • Decrease complexity and wait times for development permitting.
  • Remove barriers to rural connectivity.
  • Allow for flexibility for rural and complimentary agri-based business to expand and diversify.
  • Facilitate understanding of high-level documents like the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw through use of plain language.
  • Increase meaningful engagement and resource allocation to hamlets and small pocket communities. This includes widening the scope for notification on development proposals to include community-based input on feasibility and future impacts to the affected area.

Prosper

  • Commitment to a balance between quality rural lifestyle and economic growth and diversification.
  • Supportive infrastructure equals development and/or increased demand.
  • Explore the creation of a county specific online business directory tool aimed at supporting and advancing local business.
  • Explore the development of an annual divisional community league forum, bringing community champions together.
