31 years ago, I joined my husband David on the Olson family farm in Carvel. I learned to drive tractor, grain truck and work cattle. I learned the value of community and co-operatives and how helping your neighbour is sometimes the only currency you need. My rural roots run deep and I’m thankful for the life we’ve made here and the 2 beautiful children we raised along the way.

Professional Background

My professional background is nursing including psychiatry, trauma and occupational health. I studied at Alberta Hospital Ponoka School of Nursing, and U of A. From there, I ventured into business and became a partner in Carvel General Store. I enjoyed 20 yrs serving our community, promoting local history, tourist initiatives and highlighting area artisans. Today, I’m self employed as a leadership consultant.

I hold certificates in Business Fundamentals, Advanced Leadership and Incident Command from NAIT, governance and related board training. I currently serve on West Parkland Gas Board of Directors as Vice Chair, member of the Resolutions Committee for Fed Gas and am a member of the Economic Diversification Committee with Parkland County.

Community Involvement

I have volunteered, chaired and supported many committees, service and sports groups and community initiatives over the years. I’m deeply committed to community service and will always give of my time, expertise and resources as needed. I currently coach and manage a women’s hockey team and enjoy curling, cross country skiing, gardening and family gatherings.
